Chad gets er done

Chad Causey is now the official democratic candidate for the irst district this fall. We (me and the kids that is) like to think his narrow victory was pushed over the top by this very stylin' bike commuter on his way to work on primary runoff election day. Go Daddy Go!

Letter of the day

Today was our first letter: A. 25 more to go. Linden is really excited. We made a list of words, wrote the letter, made letter rubbings, made a collage of things that start with A and put it all in our Letter of the Day Book. Hopefully we can sustain the excitement for the next 6 weeks.

Princess Aligator

This is Linden's new favorite thing to be/pretend: "Princess Alligator" Evie is always Princess Duck - although she doesn't require a specific costume. Linden requires these specific costume elements: tutu, cane, blue tie, pink fairy wings, and alligator hat. Evie's one addition are the hula hoops which are usually the stage. The performance though mostly consists of telling me that I can't talk during the performance and then Linden announces "ready? everyone introduce their feelings to Princess Duck." We aren't really sure what that means but its seems to be part of the performance. Evie's interpretation of the perfromance is to just dance inside the hula hoop.

The girl loves to draw

She sat in this chair and drew on the back of an envelope for 45 minutes. What can we say - she loves to draw.

Sidewalk art

Our little chalk artist

Linden's first representational drawing - intentionally representational that is - he likes to just draw and then tell me what it looks like but even that is pretty rare. He isn't into drawing much. Its a face - if you can't tell.

Real Popcorn

I think I may have finally convinced Linden that real popcorn is better than microwave. What wouldn't be better with melted butter poured over it.

The same size

Evie and Ada have an unexpected play date at the firetruck playground. Too cute.

Election Day

Just helping out "Uncle Chad". An after dinner stroll to the polls for a little smiling and waving (and running in the grass of course.)

And now for the run off. GO CHAD!

Playing Toot and Otto

Now that Blakelynn lives in Jonesboro the kids get to spend lots of quality time with their biggest cousin. Just look at the adoration.

more fame

They are quickly using up their 15 minutes. This is second news story in two weeks involving our cute kids and our local library. They can make a story out of anything on the evening news. Check it out. Wish I looked as cute as Evie on film.

Happy Mother's Day!!

After sleeping in and an amazing breakfast (waffles, with whipped cream and strawberries) we did a little mother's day gardening in our recently cleared away ivy garden. This is the before shot of our soon to be wild flower garden.
Grow seeds. Grow.

MamaSu and Opa!

We had a fine visit with MamaSu and Opa. They came to see the amazing Linden Mixon perform in the dance of a lifetime. And we got to help celebrate Opa's Birthday too!
Here they are teaching MamaSu how to dance to Thomas songs after putting on the thomas shirts she brought them.
Playing with Opa's big plane we gave him for his birthday.

Dance Receital

Today was the big performance. (Linden is right in the center - other boy is his buddy Renato. They were tap dancing to "Pac Man Fever")
And Linden loved it!
Check out the moves!
We will post a video shortly. Its too cute. The whole thing was pretty intense even to watch. 19 classes of kids under 5 each doing their own dance. Linden's class was next to last. We are all wondering how on earth they keep 150 little kids entertained back stage and quiet for that long!

Perfect morning

What a perfect morning. Gorgeous sunny blue skies. Painting with the kiddos on our patio (we are working on collection boxes to gather cool things in the yard). Playing at the fire truck playground with friends. Home for smoothies and bagels for lunch - what's not to love. Yay summer!!

Evie loves her baby

Evie and baby have been having a lot of quality time lately - playing with trains together, dancing together, changing baby's diaper, Baby often needs her hands cleaned, and of course needs her clothes changed a whole lot.
Oh and yes - Evie does have quite curly hair.

We're Famous!!

At least at our local library.

Check out this news story. You made need to click on the story name: "a cultural twist on story time"

Sunday morning movie

After a late night of weather watching and very early morning of small people waking we were all too happy to cuddle on the couch and watch the video about how the post office works just one more time. Its actually fascinating.

Tornadoes. yikes!

So we had an eventful weekend weather watching. Both Friday and Saturday nights we were under a tornado warning. Friday night the siren actually went off and we got the kids down into the downstairs hallway "bunker". Pretty exciting - but mostly just a lot of thunder and lighting and rain for us - though if you watched the local news coverage you'd have thought we were done for, for sure. Linden never even woke up.

Strawberry shortcake

After some yummy grilled pork chops with pineapple salsa and roasted corn on the cob on our picnic table - what better way to finish things off then strawberry shortcake followed by a thorough whip cream bowl licking. Ah summer.

Good morning campers - rise and shine.
