Imaginary trip

Sometimes its hard to tell whether your toddler is really deep in pretend play or if they have convinced themselves what they are pretending is real. Linden pretended he was getting ready for a trip with Daddy to the beach to visit Granka Bob and Kate. He packed his water and some snacks and things to do. It lasted for maybe an hour. I think in the end he may have been a bit disappointed when I explained that Daddy really wouldn't be home until lunch time.

"Mama Stairs!"

Evie played with playdoh this morning while Linden was at school and announced, quite proud of herself, "Mama stairs!" Our little sculptor.

Long enough to braid

Come on spring!

Our snow is gone! let's hope it stays that way. Here's to many more days like this and long walks and fun mornings at the playground in our future.
Evie faired quite well for not being able to walk. turns out you don't have to move much really enjoy being outside. "meow, watch out!"

Evie's new "shoe"

So its broken - or at least its most likely broken. Nothing shows up on the x-ray but her foot is like 75% cartilage at this age and you can't see that on the x-ray. Who knew you could break cartilage? Luckily its just a splint so we can take it off if necessary - but so far she's taking it all in stride. pretty remarkable if you ask me - but then again I guess she couldn't walk for a good 1/2 or her existence. She'll wear it for a week then we'll see. I still can't believe she broke it.

Creative sleeper

It serves me right for leaving an empty laundry basket in his room during nap time. He played quietly in his room for close to two hours this afternoon. When Evie woke up this is how I found him - sound asleep. This time at least looks more comfortable that some other recent nap time sleeping positions: under Evie's crib, curled up in the seat of the rocking chair, at the foot of his bed on top of a large plastic pirate ship. We've been having issues with nap lately. Kind of a shocker for Linden, the kid that until a few weeks ago never slept less than 3 hours in the afternoon. I kind of thought we would move to 1 or 2 hours before just not napping entirely which has happened quite a bit lately. Apparently though - as evidenced by today - if I just leave him long enough he will eventually give in, mid imaginary boating expedition and collapse.

Poor evie Mae

So Evie had her first x-ray today. She tripped this morning and it really seemed insignificant (minus a tiny split lip and some already existing teething pain). But after an inconsolable 1/2 hour and an hour of being held she still wouldn't walk on her left leg. X-ray seems to suggest nothing is broken (all that radiation for nothing) but we haven't heard the final word yet. We are hoping she wakes up dancing and running in the morning. Such a tiny foot. :(

Happy Valentine's Day!

Please note the tap shoes, matching leggings, and super cute Evie Mae dancing - please ignore my singing and the fact that I mess up the words (oops) - Have a great Valentine's Day all!

More snow. ugh.

I'm not one to complain about snow - especially when I live somewhere where I know there will be years where we are desperately missing it entirely. but geez! 4 inches on the ground first thing and its been falling all day. The last snow has just melted. Our daffodils are extremely confused.

8 INCHES OF SNOW!!!

So I was about to post pictures of the bulbs that were pushing their way through the soil all over our yard - well back to winter I guess. Last time there was this much snow here was in the 70's. Sleding around the yard
Whole family sliding down the front hill of your yard.
We made a snow slide - mini luge of sorts in preparation for the Olympics (woo hoo!!) - It got bigger after this photo was taken. Evie really liked going fast.

It was fun. Wish I had my skis!!! Now melt snow. melt.
